Here is what the rebuild kit from
Novak looks like. I'll now be starting the rebuild of it.
Here is the internal structure of
the transmission.
This is the transmission input shaft.
Ten spline, just like the original Cruiser transmission.
After removing the retaining plate.
The only way to remove the input shaft is out the front of the transmission.
Once I removed the input shaft.
The input shaft. All of the bearings
were in real good shape, not a single bearing looked wore. I just
wanted to replace everything since I had it out.
The rear of the transmission with
the output shaft removed.
The output shaft taken out from the
inside of the transmission.
You can see where the retaining pin
was for the midle shaft. Have to drive it in, then remove it from
the shaft, then drive it back in once you start the install.
This is broken down to the reverse
gears and the lowest range first gear. This also come out from the
inside.
The reverse gears with the shaft.
This is where all the bearing fell
on the disasembly. One of them was damaged, the only thing I found.
There wasn't any noticable metal shaving in it. The stuff that looks
like crud at the bottom is the bearing and what looks to be burn oil
and general crud. All of it crumbled once it is rubed between the
fingers.
All of the internal parts.
This is where all of the needle bearing
came from. What a pain in the arse when putting them back in.
I wrote this up a year after I took
the pictures. If there is a mistake on the writing please let me know
and I will fix it.
